That's a lovely drawing style you got right there. It reminds me of 40's cartoons (in fact, it would be cool if MLP had an episode featuring some classic-style animation) and I could picture the two in this picture 'coming to life' and suddenly becoming animated. Great job!

Oh, and I think they don't get as much fan love as a couple because we just see them being happily married rather than seeing the two meet each other. That and this fandom's bias towards the lesbian pairings (after all, what else do expect from a mostly female cast?).

Oh no, don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the gay and lesbian shipping that goes on. I just agree with you that there's no need to ignore established canon shipping such as the Cakes' marriage.

Heh, they're my favorite canon couple too. I love the sense of interplay between them, and how they've fit so completely into the lives of the other... that's something you've certainly caught in the glance that's flying between them here. I also like how dynamic their pose is, caught in mid stride. Well done!:)
